I’ve recently started a book of easy to play songs that we will learn and (hopefully) play live.
I change a few songs per fortnight to keep people on their toes.
People asked me to distribute the list so that hours of callous creating toil can be spent sweating over the fretboard.
Some are transposed by Andy Platt the founder of HUG and some are Richard G/ Scorpex.
Bad Moon Rising – start off with a simple 3 chord song that a lot of people know.

Urban Spaceman – increase to 5 chords. Another fun song and kazoos (get one and use it!).

I Wanna Be Like You – need to work out intros or this one.

Eight Days a Week – nice tight start and stop, but remember the changes in timing
These Boots – daft run on the intro/ outro 10 10 9 9 8 8 7 7 6 6 5 5 4 4 3 1 D

I’m a Believer – two people to do the intro, fast chord changes. Anyone know the bloke who sang a different high pitched version (compared to the Monkees) Email me
Love Potion #9 – downward strumming on the chorus and single stumms on the E7
Button Up Your Overcoat – first verse is different to the entire rest of the song
You Are My Sunshine – two songs in one. Short and sweet to catch your breath
She Loves You – good for practising chord changes whilst singing a familiar song.
Ziggy Stardust – interesting intros. During the parts where the chords go from (Am) > (G) > (F) the (F) alternates between (F) and (Am) (Am). As in So (G) where were the (F) Spiders (Am)(F)(Am)(F)(Am)

Songs of Love (Father Ted theme) – Nice slow song with a familiar tune. the chord changes are nice a regular.

I only Want to be With You.

Then I Kissed Her.
Georgy Girl – Lot of fast chord changes. Practise this and you will be well exercised.
Day Dream Believer – nice intro, short song.

Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard – I don’t know why I suggested this. I don’t like the lyrics.
It Must Be Love – This looks much much worse than it is. The song is very familiar. look up the Labi Siffre version. The chord changes during the chorus are odd, but the rest of the song is moving a single finger around the fretboard.

Whispering Grass – just a giggle to put on the end. I have this on 78rpm shellac and play it on a 1925 wind-up gramophone.
